The role
As a Commercial Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will interface with the multinational client on a complex ship design.
Day to day, you’ll provide commercial analysis of business, opportunities and contracts, amongst general financial analysis of bids and contracts, risk
analysis, analysis of terms, agreements and contracts and also lead on complex negotiations relating to these commercial areas.
1. Develop existing commercial relationships with clients into long term partnering relationships and build new relationships
2. Identify business, corporate risks and contract risks and develop mitigation plans with operational teams
3. Lead major complex negotiations in partnering ways which deliver client and internal expectations
4. Draft, negotiate and implement agreements and contracts
5. provide advice at the right time to avoid disputes and help operational teams to continually improve and grow contracts for the benefit of client and Babcock
This is a full-time permanent role at thirty seven hours per week and will be based at our Rosyth, Fife site following a hybrid working arrangement.
Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. We are happy to consider flexible, blended working, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing.

Essential experience of the Commercial Specialist:
6. Demonstrable Contract Negotiation and Management
7. Demonstrable experience of partnering and building commercial relationships with clients
8. Demonstrable experience of developing risk mitigation plans
9. Ability to lead on complex negotiations
10. Financially astute and demonstrable experience with regards to impact of decisions and the effect on profitability
Qualifications for the Commercial Specialist:
11. Degree or equivalent in Law, Quantity Surveying or Business.
