Working for Cramlington Seaton Valley Neighbourhood Practices, you will be based between Cramlington Medical Group, Elsdon Avenue Surgery, and Northumbria Way. The Senior Pharmacy Technician will coordinate the medicine hub activities to ensure high standards of patient care, teamwork, and collaboration with the clinical and managerial team. The post holder will work under the Clinical Pharmacy Service to deliver comprehensive medicines management in a primary care setting, ensuring a safe and efficient service, including medicines reconciliation and repeat prescription requests. Pharmacy staff across sectors and other healthcare professionals will provide patient-oriented medicines management, conducting medicines reviews. The role involves working closely with the Clinical Pharmacist to adopt a team approach, develop, and undertake medicines management audits, and support practice discussions and actions.

Main Duties:
* Work alongside staff to develop skills and prioritize workload. Supervise medicines technicians, pharmacy technicians, student pharmacy technicians, and pre-registration pharmacists.
* Interpret prescriptions, considering legality, clarity, and risk, and make interventions to ensure safety, referring to pharmacists or medicines management technicians as needed.
* Assess medicine supply information, consider solutions, and ensure continuation of supply, referring non-standard prescriptions appropriately.
* Assist practice staff in data collection and analysis for reviews and audits to improve medicines management.
* Support governance and operational reviews, discussing issues weekly and escalating as required.
Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC) manages several GP practices serving around 50,000 patients across Northumberland and North Tyneside. Appointees will have a base practice but may work across others, with efforts to maintain continuity. NPC is a subsidiary of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
