The role offers a hybrid working arrangement with 2 days a week on-site in Bolton and 3 days working from home. Rate is subject to experience. Please find the job spec below:
1. Experience and Skills:
2. Experience working on complex bids, with a proven record of accomplishment in costed proposals/manufacturing bids. Preference for experience within an engineering or production environment.
3. A good understanding of the manufacturing production process, from procurement to delivery.
4. Commercially astute, working with cost models to generate costings for direct/indirect costs, materials, and other manufacturing-related costs.
5. Strong presentation skills, with experience using PowerPoint to generate bid packs and cost brochures for senior management approval.
6. Excellent communication skills, capable of working across all programmes with multiple stakeholders and building strong networks.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach.
8. Ability to articulate costing theories and ensure evidence is collated for audit purposes.
9. Experience in lessons learned and continuous improvement in bidding processes.
10. Ability to work under tight deadlines across multiple bids.
11. Logical thinking with experience in data analytics and reporting.
12. High-level communication skills, capable of influencing key stakeholders and responding to complex situations.
13. Enthusiastic, proactive, and tenacious, with the ability to prioritize and understand strategic business needs.

2. Lead manufacturing bids, ensuring clarity of scope within Bid Directive and alignment with manufacturing policy.
3. Manage manufacturing bid cost bases in Excel, ensuring data is quantifiable and evidence-backed.
4. Develop manufacturing bid presentations in PowerPoint, ensuring competitiveness, compliance, and alignment with business criteria. Risks are effectively assessed, and bids are financially sound and competitive.
5. Ensure manufacturing contributions add value to the bid process.
6. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing visibility of future bids and market intelligence through regular meetings.
7. Maintain manufacturing involvement throughout the project lifecycle, preparing to manage and deliver compliant bid proposals.
8. Promote awareness of the Manufacturing Bid Team across programmes.
9. Support the New Business Team in identifying opportunities and developing strategies to win new business.
10. Participate in strategic change activities, supporting best practices and functional excellence.
11. Contribute to developing and refining manufacturing processes and procedures according to standards and best practices.
12. Adopt a continuous improvement attitude.
13. Support the validation and evolution of the cost model and bidding methodology, ensuring competitiveness and accuracy of costs, including Unit Production Cost (UPC).
14. Collect, analyze, and present data for decision-making, ensuring accuracy and auditability.
15. Challenge data to ensure clarity and traceability back to sources.
16. Ensure process governance, adherence to policies, and promote knowledge sharing.
