The financial assessment and benefits team works within adult social care in Dorset. When a person requires care, they can apply to the Council for financial support if they meet the eligibility criteria. The financial assessment team undertakes assessments to determine the maximum contribution the individual can afford towards their care costs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Booking financial assessments for assessment officers
* Ensuring correctly completed, signed paperwork is received from members of the public
* Managing data spreadsheets
* Allocating work to assessment officers
* Collaborating with social workers to resolve issues
* Managing the team email inbox
* Handling calls from the public regarding queries

This role is vital in helping the public prepare for assessments and ensuring officers can work efficiently to assist as many applicants as possible.
Applicants should be highly organized, self-sufficient, and capable of managing their workload independently. Training will be provided, and support is available, but the post holder is expected to manage their own time effectively. Excellent communication skills are essential, whether via email, letter, or phone.
You will join a friendly, supportive team, playing a key role in helping users of social care and their families understand their financial contributions after eligibility is confirmed. You will be one of three assessment assistants working closely together to support the wider team.
