Enforcement Officer – East London – £26.43 per hour (Umbrella) A Local Authority in East London is recruiting for an Environmental Enforcement Officer to join their Community Safety and Enforcement Team. Role Purpose: The Enforcement Officer will deliver a wide range of enforcement activities to address issues such as rough sleeping, anti-social behaviour, public nuisance, environmental crime, highway infringements, licensing breaches, and other community safety concerns. The role involves both proactive and reactive work to protect the borough and ensure compliance with legislation. Key Responsibilities: - Carry out tasked and proactive patrol duties across the borough. - Undertake focused enforcement and investigation activities relating to crime, disorder, nuisance, environmental issues, and anti-social behaviour. - Use relevant powers to resolve issues and protect the community. - Engage with residents, businesses, and partners to provide visible enforcement presence. Knowledge Required: - Strong understanding of enforcement-related legislation, including: - Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 - Crime and Disorder Act 1998 - Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 - Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 - Environmental Protection Act 1990 - Highways Act 1980 - Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 Experience Required: - Proven experience in an investigative, enforcement, or similar regulatory environment. - Experience dealing with the public in a diverse urban setting. - Strong communication and conflict management skills.
