Role overview
The Trainee Facilities Engineer will support the Facilities team in managing site footprint projects, including detailed surveys of aerospace assembly and process equipment. The role involves developing new layout configurations in collaboration with manufacturing engineering and tooling teams to optimize space, manage procurement, installation, and commissioning of infrastructure, and oversee the project handover. This position is suitable for an engineer with aerospace industry experience aiming to advance into facilities or project management.
Key duties & responsibilities
* Analyze industrial needs, conduct feasibility studies, and develop initial proposals
* Create detailed 3D and 2D designs and layout drawings using CATIA and AutoCAD
* Design building services such as lighting, compressed air, electrical infrastructure, and vacuum systems
* Coordinate with surveyors and ensure compliance with legislation
* Collaborate with suppliers for technical and commercial solutions
* Work with stakeholders including manufacturing engineers, tooling, and HSE
* Plan strategic facility layouts to meet future requirements
* Prepare facility specifications for RFQ tenders and buy-off
* Record critical geometry before fixture moves
* Plan and supervise lifting and movement of fixtures safely
* Manage contractors to meet Safran and SHE standards, including UK CDM legislation
* Produce technical data for training and asset handover
* Support training and fault diagnosis post-commissioning
* Coordinate during installation and commissioning with suppliers

Candidate requirements
Knowledge: Working knowledge of building services and aerospace production processes.
Skills & qualities: Time-served engineer, preferably aerospace, CAD proficiency (CATIA 2D & 3D), qualified to HNC Mechanical Engineering, experienced in MS Office, good interpersonal and analytical skills.
