We are seeking a Phlebotomist/HCA to join our nursing team for 25-30 hours per week. Salary: £12.21 -£13 ph
Monday Friday (Flexible hours considered)
Working under the supervision of the Lead Nurse you will strictly adhere to specific Practice guidance and protocols to provide Phlebotomy services to our patients. Dependent on previous experience and skills further clinical support for the nursing team may also be required (examples are shown with a * below).
Main duties of the job
Clinical responsibilities:
Obtaining consent from patient to perform venepuncture.
Confirmation of patient details.
Collection of samples as per phlebotomy protocol
To dispose of sharps as per infection control guidance
Ensure samples are labelled correctly and stored appropriately to minimise rejected samples
Clear and concise recording of procedures in practice notes
Adhere to all infection control guidance
Ensuring any concerns or anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
Clear communication with wider practice team
Check and rotate stock where needed
Stay up to date with protocols and guidance
Performing and recording Urine dipstick tests
Recording height and weight checks in patient records
Health promotion
Flu and pneumonia immunisation under PSD training can be provided
Non-clinical Responsibilities:
Stock checks and ordering
Stocking clinical rooms

We are a training practice, have 5 GP Partners and 6 Salaried GPs and are part of the West Hove PCN.

* Must have previous phlebotomy experience
* Previous Primary care working environment

* Good communication skills written and oral Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a busy environment.

* Able to work within comfort level and know when to ask for help.
* Able to organise and prioritise workload.
* Use of clinical IT systems.
* Understanding of Information Governance.
