Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Chef to join our early years setting. The Nursery Chef will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving healthy, balanced, and nutritious meals for children aged 0–5 years in line with dietary needs, allergies, and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* be part of the weekly menus planning that meet nutritional guidelines and are suitable for young children.
* Prepare and cook fresh meals and snacks daily, accommodating allergies and special dietary requirements.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen in line with food hygiene regulations.
* Ensure all food is stored, handled, and prepared according to food safety standards and health and safety regulations.
* Order, receive, and manage food supplies and stock, keeping within budget.
* Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and allergen information.
* be in involved in the communication with parents and staff about children's dietary needs.
* Support the nursery team in promoting healthy eating habits among children.
* Complete any required training in food safety and first aid.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a chef or cook, ideally in a childcare or school setting.
* Level 2 or above in Food Safety & Hygiene.
* Knowledge of allergy management and nutritional requirements for children.
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
* Passion for cooking healthy meals and promoting children's well-being.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Hours:
9:30am-2:30pm Monday- Friday, 50 weeks of the year. We are looking for someone willing to potential up their hours when our nursery becomes busier.
Desirable:
* Qualification in catering or nutrition.
* First Aid training.
* Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and its relevance to healthy eating.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £10.00-£12.21 per hour
