Caretaker and Security Operative
Hours: Full time (37 hrs per week, all year round) on a shift pattern basis of Morning or Afternoons

Salary: £24,476 per annum + benefits

About the Role
The Caretaker and Security Operative plays a vital role at the College by ensuring all buildings are available, accessible, and suitable for students, staff, and visitors. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming campus environment. Your professional and friendly approach will shape staff and visitors' perceptions of the College Campus.
Main Duties
1. Participate in shift rota to ensure an Estates presence on all campuses whenever the College buildings are open; conduct procedures to open and secure premises; assist in maintaining cleanliness by removing refuse and emptying bins; promote health and safety by keeping corridors and fire exits clear of hazards.
2. Prepare rooms for use, set up for curriculum or meetings, assist with staff room moves or furniture re-arrangement.
3. Ensure timely delivery of post and parcels within the campus to support effective departmental operations.
4. Perform routine maintenance and repairs; suggest improvements to the environment; support risk assessments and maintenance programs.
5. Respond to emergencies, including evacuations, directing emergency services, and responding to lift breakdowns. Assist in providing First Aid when required.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in maintenance, security, or caretaking roles is preferred, ideally in an educational setting. Candidates should hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths or be willing to attain these qualifications.
Department Information
You will report to the Estates and Facilities Management Team and collaborate with colleagues across all College campuses.
