Now one of the UK’s leading regional contractors, we predominantly work across the Midlands and South West regions. With offices in Malvern and Wolverhampton, we deliver a range of public and private sector projects from £250k up to £30 million across a numbers of fields including education, healthcare, residential and leisure.
The job
Due to business growth, we are seeking a new Buyer join our team, based out of our Wolverhampton/Malvern office. In this key role, you will research, select and purchase quality products and materials. You will be an expert at building relationships with suppliers and negotiating with them for the best price, quantities and delivery timescales.
This is a ‘blended working’ role split between home and the office (2 days per week at home).
How You’ll Contribute
In this busy role, you will:
* Procure material and plant for construction sites.
* Place orders in a timely manner in accordance with the procurement schedule provided for the contract by the Contracts Manager, and from requisitions provided by the site management.
* Attend project handover meeting when requested; tender documentation to be analysed and orders placed with a view to maximising profit and minimising risk on the contract, the target for which will be set out and agreed at the handover and monitored at CVR meetings.
* Liaise with the Quantity Surveyor re margin achieved to aid with the preparation of the contract CVR when required.
* Attend CVR meetings upon request and report progress accordingly.
* Take an overview of the whole project, liaising closely with the quantity surveyor to ensure packages are placed with no overlap.
* Advise / assist the estimating department should any questions arise at tender stage where expertise would be of value.
* Assist with invoice queries as required.
* Assist in the creation of supplier framework agreements, as required.
* Assist in the management of rebate and 3 rd party rebate agreements with suppliers.
