We are seeking a Finance Business Partner to deliver a professional and consistent accountancy and financial advisory service across the Council, supporting management and Members, while overseeing finance staff, contributing to service and project teams, and assisting senior finance colleagues as required. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive financial support to service areas, including budget preparation, forecasting, risk analysis, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and systems. Support and train budget holders through workshops, tools, and tailored advice to enable effective budget management and financial decision-making. Lead and develop finance staff, ensuring strong supervision, motivation, and delivery of consistent financial processes across the Council. Contribute to strategic projects and initiatives, acting as the finance lead where required and supporting cross-service collaboration. Ensure accurate financial reporting, including grant claims, government returns, audit responses, and year-end accounts, while continuously improving financial systems and processes. Qualifications · Possession of, or currently studying towards, a professional accounting qualification (e.g. CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA), or significant experience in a relevant accountancy role. · Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, and/or providing business partnering advice to service areas. · Good understanding of local authority financial practices, systems, and current issues.
