Job Description

SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)

Location: Ipswich

Salary: £42,000 per annum

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

The Opportunity

Are you a passionate educator committed to transforming the lives of children with complex needs? We are seeking a dedicated SENCO to join our brand-new school in Ipswich. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth of a supportive educational environment designed for up to 30 pupils aged 5 to 18.

As part of a wider community where 100% of education services are rated 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, you will join a team that prioritizes holistic development, ensuring that academic progress is always matched by emotional well-being.

Your Impact

This is a dual-focus role requiring a 50/50 split between leadership and teaching. We are particularly interested in candidates with Secondary teaching experience, preferably with a background in Science.

Key Responsibilities:

* Strategic Leadership: Shape the development of SEN policy and provision, ensuring every child's EHCP is monitored and met with precision.
* Intervention & Assessment: Design targeted interventions to close attainment gaps and analyze data to evaluate their effectiveness.
* Collaborative Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for external agencies, local authorities, and parents, while leading on Early Help and annual reviews.
* Safeguarding & Support: Serve as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and the designated teacher for Looked After Children (LAC).
* Teaching Excellence: Provide high-quality teaching and support colleagues in developing effective classroom strategies for pupils with autism and SEMH needs.

What You Bring

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
* National Award for SEN Co-ordination (or a commitment to complete the new NPQ for SENCOs).
* Proven experience teaching within an Autism or SEMH setting.
* Experience in leading INSET, delivering training, and school self-evaluation.
* A deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
* A resilient, empathetic, and professional approach to supporting vulnerable learners.

Why Join Us?

We don't just care about our pupils; we care about you. We offer a workplace that actively values your emotional health and professional growth.

* Financial Security: Competitive salary, Company Pension, and Life Assurance.
* Lifestyle Perks: Employee Discount Scheme and term-time-only working hours.
* Professional Growth: Access to a wide range of CPD opportunities and the chance to shape a new school's journey.
* Purposeful Work: The chance to make a profound contribution to the lives of children who deserve the very best.
