Job Description: Chief Commercial Officer
Location: Remote UK
Industry: CDMO – Sterile Manufacturing, Injectables, Drug Development, Small Molecules
Package: Executive salary + Equity (with a potential 7-figure payout)
About the Business:
Unio Search has been exclusively retained by a private equity–backed global CDMO with deep expertise in sterile manufacturing, injectables, and complex drug development. With over 20 years of proven delivery, this organisation partners with both public and private sector clients globally—delivering high-quality solutions across contract manufacturing, licensing, and drug development services.
Now entering its next phase of growth, the business is scaling across new markets, expanding its commercial footprint in exports, licensing, and NHS-led initiatives. With strong operations and regulatory credibility already in place, the company seeks a commercially driven executive to lead and shape its go-to-market strategy.
The Role: Chief Commercial Officer
The CCO will sit on the Executive Leadership Team and own the commercial strategy end-to-end—across sales, partnerships, licensing, and customer success. The CCO will lead a high-performing commercial team and work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Finance, and R&D to deliver sustained revenue growth and client value.
This is a critical role requiring both strategic vision and hands-on leadership, especially as the company navigates international growth, PE-backed value creation, and potentially transformative deals.
What's on Offer:
An executive-level compensation package that includes equity participation.
The potential for a significant 7-figure payout is linked to EBITA performance targets (uncapped)
An opportunity to join a seasoned, hands-on executive team supported by a well-established operations unit, all committed to continuous growth and commercial excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Shape and lead the commercial strategy, with clear revenue, margin, and market-share targets
Drive enterprise-level sales and licensing partnerships with pharma, biotech, and healthcare bodies (including NHS and global ministries)
Oversee full P&L responsibility for commercial operations and proactively course-correct where needed
Coach, mentor, and lead the commercial team, instilling a high-performance, customer-first culture
Work cross-functionally with C-suite peers to align sales with operations, finance, and R&D roadmaps
Build and strengthen senior customer relationships, becoming a trusted executive presence across key accounts
Represent the company externally, including at board, investor, or public sector forums as required
Key Expertise & Experience Required:
10+ years’ experience in commercial leadership within a CDMO environment, with expertise in sterile injectables and small molecules
Proven success in contract manufacturing, licensing, and export business models
Strong P&L ownership experience and a track record of driving EBITDA growth
Strong leadership acumen: able to build and scale teams, coach senior talent, and manage complexity
Experienced in navigating public and private healthcare ecosystems, including the NHS and international equivalents
Executive gravitas: confident influencing at board, investor, and customer levels
Able to map and influence complex customer landscapes—understanding regulatory, strategic, and operational levers that drive buying behaviour
