Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a rewarding and varied role, or a newly qualified Social Worker looking to complete your ASYE in a supportive environment? North Yorkshire Council is recruiting full‑time Social Workers within the Specialist Services area.
As a Social Worker you will work closely with a variety of teams and agencies—including health colleagues, community and prevention teams, voluntary and independent sector partners, and others—to support people in a person‑centred way, utilising their unique strengths and celebrating individuality. Through strength‑based assessments and interventions, you will help people with care and support needs and their carers to achieve desired outcomes with a focus on wellbeing, and you will be expected to think creatively when looking for solutions for individual needs. A good working knowledge of current adult social care legislation and the application of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act is required.
As a Social Worker in the Intensive Support Team, you will work with individuals experiencing multiple disadvantages and complex wellbeing needs. This unique opportunity involves specialist, person‑centred support for high‑need individuals identified through presenting circumstances rather than diagnosis, including work within the MEAM (Making Every Adult Matter) approach and the REACH project in Scarborough and Whitby, which focuses on reducing exclusion for adults with complex housing needs through assertive outreach and tenancy support.
We promote a safe culture of support and learning that all staff endorse. We recognise the importance of employee health and wellbeing, aiming to provide manageable workloads and specialised administrative support, allowing staff to focus on care delivery. We support the AYSE (Assessed and Supported Year of Employment) programme for newly qualified Social Workers, offering reduced caseloads and enhanced supervision during the first year. The role involves working with people who have a wide range of needs, including self‑neglect, hoarding, substance misuse, homelessness prevention and dementia support.
North Yorkshire offers rich history, culture, natural beauty, vibrant cities, market towns, villages, rural and coastal landscapes, and easy access to Leeds, York, Newcastle, Durham and even London.
