Charity Manager (Trauma & Orthopaedics Research Charity TORC) Charity Jobs NI is delighted to be supporting Trauma & Orthopaedics Research Charity (TORC) with the recruitment of a Charity Manager. This is a key leadership opportunity for an experienced and proactive professional to oversee the day-to-day running of the charity while helping to shape and support its future growth. Based at Musgrave Park Hospital, TORC plays an important role in supporting orthopaedic research and improving patient outcomes through fundraising, partnership working, and effective charity management. This is a broad and rewarding role within a small, purpose-driven team, and may also appeal to candidates with experience in positions such as Charity Operations Manager, Fundraising & Operations Manager, Charity Development Manager, Fundraising Manager, or Head of Fundraising. About the Role As Charity Manager, you will oversee the daily running of TORC, ensuring the charity operates effectively across finance, governance, compliance, fundraising, events, communications, and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with the Charity Director, trustees, clinical staff, the research team, and wider partners to ensure the charity remains well-managed, visible, and financially sustainable. This is a hands-on management role that requires a confident and highly effective communicator who can build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, represent the charity professionally, and bring people with them. It would suit someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and can balance operational oversight with proactive fundraising development, income growth, and strong relationship-building. Salary: HSCNI Band 6, currently £38,682 - £46,580 per annum, with incremental progression in line with HSCNI pay structures Location: Musgrave Park Hospital, Belfast Contract: Permanent - Full-time Closing Date: 9:00am on Monday 30th March 2026 Interview Date: Provisionally scheduled for week commencing 13 April 2026 Key Responsibilities Lead the day-to-day management and administration of TORC Oversee charity accounts, financial processes, reporting, and compliance requirements Prepare annual, quarterly, and ad hoc reports for trustees, funders, and the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland Act as an authorised signatory and key contact for banking and financial transactions Manage purchasing, funding requests, and charity-related expenditure Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of fundraising and engagement events, ensuring they are well-organised, professionally managed, and positively represent the charity Work proactively to grow and diversify income streams by attracting new supporters, strengthening existing relationships, and identifying new fundraising opportunities Take an active role in researching, writing, and submitting grant, tender, and funding applications to help secure sustainable income for the charity Lead on promotional activity, including annual marketing planning, website content, and digital communications Manage TORCs social media presence across platforms including Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram Support and, where appropriate, manage staff, volunteers, student placements, and administrative support Build strong working relationships with clinical and research colleagues and wider stakeholders Ensure relevant policies, procedures, health and safety, and governance arrangements are maintained What TORC is Looking For Applicants will need to demonstrate either: A degree in Management, Business, Events, or another relevant subject, or an equivalent qualification or At least 5 years experience working in a charity, including a minimum of 3 years in a fundraising or management role. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with trustees, clinical teams, supporters, funders, and external stakeholders Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple strands of activity effectively Proven experience of managing and coordinating events from planning through to delivery Experience of supporting or leading income generation activity, including identifying opportunities to grow fundraising income Strong written skills, including experience of preparing grant, tender, or funding applications Excellent numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint The ability to identify problems and implement practical solutions The ability to work both independently and collaboratively Flexibility and resilience in a changing environment It would be advantageous to have experience in financial or people management within a charity setting, charity promotion or marketing, and digital content creation. A willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends is also desirable. Salary and Benefits Salary aligned to HSCNI Band 6, currently £38,682 per annum. With incremental progression in line with the HSCNI pay framework, rising to £46,580 p/a after 5 years' service. 27 days annual leave plus 10 statutory days Flexi working options Hybrid working available Condensed hours may be considered for the right candidate Why Apply?
