Are you an experienced Residential Support Worker looking for a rewarding role outside of residential care?
We are working in partnership with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Bristol that supports children and young people who require additional emotional, behavioural and educational support.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in residential children's homes, supported accommodation, youth work, mental health support or behavioural support who are looking to transfer their skills into education.
The Role
As a Residential Support Worker within the school setting, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
Supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies.
Assisting pupils with emotional regulation and social development.
Supporting learning activities both in and out of the classroom.
Acting as a positive role model for vulnerable young people.
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff.
Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion at all times.

You will ideally possess:
Experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children and young people.
An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
