QSW – Social Worker – Children with Disabilities
Role Overview:The Social Worker in the Children and Young People with Disabilities Team plays a crucial role in supporting children, young people, and their families. This rewarding permanent, full-time position is based in AFC operational area 2, covering the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. As a Social Worker, you will assess the needs of children and young people with disabilities, identify appropriate services, and provide statutory support. Additionally, you will review and monitor services, ensuring the well-being and safety of vulnerable children.
Responsibilities:
Assessment and Care Planning:
1. Independently manage a caseload of children with a wide variety of disabilities.
2. Conduct single assessments, Child in Need meetings, and care planning.
3. Collaborate with multi-agency teams to develop holistic care plans.
4. Adapt your approach to handle complex or unusual cases effectively.
5. Assess and manage risks appropriately.
Statutory Support:
6. Provide statutory support for children in need, looked after children, and those in need of protection.
7. Assist with cases subject to public law proceedings (e.g., Initial Child Protection Conference, Initial Care Proceedings).
8. Facilitate initial accommodation to local authority care.
Specialist Knowledge:
9. Develop and share specialist knowledge within the team.
10. Stay informed about relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
11. Attend Strategy Meetings and Section 47 Investigations.
Qualifications and Skills:To excel in this role, you should demonstrate the following:
Experience:
* Proven experience working with children and families in either a voluntary or statutory setting.
* Ideally, experience working with Disabled Children, Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), or Looked After Children (LAC).
Essential Requirements:
* A full and valid driving license and access to your own transport.
* A professional social work qualification, such as CQSW or Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or any other relevant qualification recognised by Social Work England.
* An active Social Work England registration.
