Role Summary
The C&ODirector Web and SEO/GEO Excellenceshapesand drivestheglobaloperations agenda forWeb and SEO/GEO service delivery at is a dual remit that spans1)thedevelopment,managementandimplementationof excellence standards forour activeWeb Delivery and SEOservicesand2)thereinvention of thesetwoservicesthroughworkflow redesign to harness AI tools and agentic capabilities.
In this role, you willcollaborate closely with counterparts inAstraZeneca’sEnterprise AI Unit(EAI)and Commercial IT(IT)organisations as part of a cross-functional team thatshapes,enables and executes web strategy, capability development, websiteassembly, websiteupdates,search engine and AI optimisation across 40+ markets in US, EUCAN, International and this role, you will make a significant contribution to acceleratinghow our scientific,medicaland promotional information reaches audiences across the world, supporting the adoption ofourinnovative medicines acrosssome of the most prevalentand seriousdiseasesand transforming patient outcomes.
The successful candidatewilllead two teams of Channel Excellence Leads for Web and SEO, respectively, a total of9direct reportsdistributedacrossthe US East Coast, Canada, andPortugal.Yourteams willpartner with businesscustomersand deliverycolleaguesto ensure services are effective across diverse market contexts, regulatory environments, and levels of digital maturity. You will also contribute to how these services are delivered, helping to shapescalable deliverymodels that balance centralised execution, pod-based delivery, and increased market self-sufficiency.
You will combine deep knowledge ofleading edgewebtechnologies (Adobe Experience Managerecosystem knowledge preferred), webexcellencestandards,SearchEngineOptimisation,Generative Engine Optimisationanda track record ofwebdeliveryleadership inlargeglobal organisations (pharmaceutical industry preferred) eitheras an in-house leader orin digital agencies and other relevant 3rdparty providers. 1. OperationaliseFutureWebandGEO/SEOVisionandDrive theRoadmap:Partner with ourEAIandITteams todefine andimplementa scalableenterprise strategyand roadmapto enableour brandsto achieve andmaintain high visibility, competitiveness in priority topic areas,factual accuracy across search engines (Google, AI overviews, AI mode) and LLM-driven generative engines (, Gemini, Claude,Perplexity,OpenEvidence).
2. ElevateMachine ReadabilityStandards:Lead the operationalization ofscalableframeworks(metadata, schema markup, tagging)toensure thatwebcontentthat we publishis easily discoverable, accurately cited, and compliant when surfaced by generative AI models.
3. ElevateWeb Excellence Standards:Refine,advocateand govern the globaldeliverystandards for user experience (UX), site speed, accessibilityfor websites delivered and managed onour enterprise web platform.
4. ImpactMeasurement:Work with EAI andITto define and implement an integrated framework totrack Web, SEO, and GEO KPIs,providing visibility onROI and tying digital performance back to broader omnichannel commercial goals.
5. ElevateService Performance Outcomes:Partner with GCS delivery teams to continuously improve service performance (acrossspeed, cost, quality), using data and frontline insights toprioritiseoptimisationand ensure consistentlyhigh levelsofdelivery excellence.

6. Partner withEAIand ITtoInfluence Enterprise Direction:Collaborate deeply withEAI and ITto evaluate, pilot, and integrate new web and search technologies intoourexisting tech as a strategic partner bringing a clear point of view on businessservicesrequirements and helping shape platform and capability development priorities.
7. EnsureStakeholder Alignment:Drivestage-gate reviews and steering committees, effectively communicating technical progress, risks, and resource requirements to senior leadershipand informing strategic decisionsrelated to progressing the roadmap.
8. Engage withRegulatory & Compliance (MLR):Workwith Medical, Legal, andRegulatory teams to ensure all SEO/GEO strategies and webdelivery activitiesadhere to global data privacy laws (GDPR, HIPAA) and local biopharma promotional guidelines.

9. Shape newWeb and SEO/GEO Services:Work with EAI, IT and our Web and SEO/GEO service squads to translate capabilities into clearly definedvalue propositions andservice offeringsrelevantto business needs.
10. Reinvent Web and SEOProcesses:Identifynew business requirements,bottlenecks,pain pointsin webdelivery,searchand AIoptimisationworkflows;reinvent processes with theintroductionof selected toolsand AI clear ownership across strategy, execution, and optimisationactivities, ensuring efficient collaborationand coordinationacrossGCS, EAI and ITteams.
11. DesignService Delivery Models:Shape how Web and SEO/GEO services are delivered across markets, balancing centralised execution, pod-based delivery, and increased market self-sufficiency.

12. Global-to-Local Adoption:Drive adoption of web, search, and AI-enabled capabilities across 40+ markets, tailoring approaches to varying levels of digital maturity and regulatory requirements.
13. Capability Building:Contribute to upskilling initiatives forglobal content creators, local brand teams, and external agency partners onSEO andGEO best practices and the evolving nature ofHCP and patient information discovery needs,preferencesandbehaviours.
14. Embed New Ways of Working:Ensure new service offerings, workflows, and tools are consistently adopted within pods and markets, working closely with delivery teams to bridge the gap between design and execution.
MinimumQualifications,Experienceand Competencies
15. Experience:10+ years of experience in digital marketing operations, web strategy, or SEO, with 3-5 years in a global leadership role within biopharmaceutical, healthcare, or highly regulated industriesas an in-house leader or in an agency or 3rdparty context.
16. Subject Matter Expertise:Deep technical understanding of enterpriseWebCMS platforms, traditional SEO architecture, and the emerging mechanics of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) applications.
17. Influence without Authority:Proventrack recordof successfully driving global digital transformation initiatives across complexglobalmatrix organizations.
18. Regulatory Acumen:Exposure to regulated or highly governed environments and familiarity with MedicalLegalRegulatory review processes, data privacy, and quality controls.
