This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Hazardous Waste team in managing daily activities related to the regime. The role involves working alongside regulatory reform initiatives and supporting the transition of the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The key duties and responsibilities include:
1. Providing technical leadership in waste classification
2. Leading Hazardous Waste compliance and initiatives to improve it
3. Enhancing leadership over priority waste streams
4. Offering technical support focused on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
5. Tackling regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra on circular economy work for Hazardous Waste
6. Focusing on enforcement to support actions in the control strategy aimed at reducing offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing unit within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling of hazardous waste.

You will have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan. We will assist in finding a suitable role. Training will be provided.
The role is based in our EA Office, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Some travel and overnight stays may be required, utilizing smart tools to stay connected.
