Overview:
A unique opportunity has arisen for a Safety & Reliability Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team working on complex Defence systems. This role focuses on developing safety and reliability evidence to support the delivery of technically advanced and safety-critical capabilities for military applications.
Job Title: Safety & Reliability Engineer – Defence Systems
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite (UK-based site)
Salary: Circa £60,000 depending on experience + Bonus + Benefits

Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain safety and reliability cases for complex electronic and weapon systems
* Conduct hazard analysis, FMECA, FTA, and reliability predictions
* Integrate safety and reliability assessments with systems engineering processes
* Balance performance and risk to meet safety, cost, and delivery requirements
* Produce high-quality reports and support internal and customer-facing reviews
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders at all levels
Skills and Experience Required:
* Strong background in system safety, functional safety, or reliability engineering
* Experience with safety and reliability tools and techniques (e.g. FMECA, FTA, reliability analysis)
* Familiarity with UK and international safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, DEF STANs, or DO-178C
* Understanding of complex electronic systems and associated safety considerations
* Strong communication and influencing skills in technical and stakeholder environments
* Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline
