We are looking for a confident and experienced professional with a proven track record in senior leadership, service development, and multidisciplinary team management. You will have a good understanding of maternity public health priorities, excellent communication and influencing skills, and a commitment to delivering equitable, high-quality care.
This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for the strategic direction, operational delivery, and governance of a portfolio of specialist services including maternity smoking cessation, diabetes in pregnancy, pelvic health, infant feeding, perinatal mental health, and contraception. You will unify these services under a single leadership structure, ensuring alignment with national maternity transformation goals and local public health priorities.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of Perinatal Health and Wellbeing Services.
2. Integrate and manage a range of specialist maternity public health services within a cohesive governance framework.
3. Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
4. Develop and implement robust governance structures to ensure high standards of clinical quality, safety, and performance.
5. Monitor service effectiveness through data analysis, performance indicators, and outcome reporting.
6. Ensure compliance with national initiatives, including the Saving Babies’ Lives Care Bundle.
7. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service integration and patient pathways.
8. Support workforce planning, recruitment, and the ongoing professional development of specialist midwives and staff.
9. Champion equitable, inclusive, and high-quality care that meets the needs of diverse communities.

10. Registered Midwife (valid with NMC)
11. Master’s Degree (or evidence of study in a relevant subject at master's level/post graduate qualification)
12. Post registration qualification in Leadership or relevant experience
13. Post registration qualification in Quality Improvement or relevant experience

14. Public health qualification or clinical equivalent

15. Professional clinical experience across a range of practice settings and roles
16. Proven record of leading and effectively managing service development and practice change
