Overview
Assistant Knitwear Designer – Girlswear at Next. Work primarily in the office (5 days a week) with core hours 8am‑6pm. This role focuses on designing and supporting product ranges for younger and older girls knitwear and the wider department including woven bottoms.
Responsibilities
* Design and support product ranges for younger and older girls knitwear and, wider department including woven bottoms.
* Respond quickly to briefs, producing fast‑turnaround designs.
* Research and recognise key trends across colour, silhouette and yarn, translating into elevated, customer‑relevant products.
* Work within price point guidelines while maintaining quality and style.
* Collaborate with designers, buyers, merchandisers, technologists, sourcing teams and suppliers to deliver on time and to spec.
* Support with project‑based collections as well as main range development.
Qualifications
* Knitwear design experience is essential, with background across childrenswear and womenswear an advantage.
* Proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator is essential; understanding of AI design tools would be beneficial.
* Strong teamwork and people skills are a must.
* Experience working with factories and different brands/retailers would be an advantage.
* Experience with retailers or suppliers industry would be an advantage.
* Portfolio required – all applications must include an updated digital portfolio.
