Overview
Innovation is the biggest growth lever in the Nomad Foods Strategic Plan in the next 3yrs. You will be part of Nomad Foods’ Global Portfolio Team which are responsible for the Segment portfolio strategy building commercially viable Innovation & Renovation Pipeline and leading the flywheel process ensuring markets have clear Blueprints with how to win plans across the Must Win Battles (MWBs). This role reports into the Head of Segment.
Responsibilities
Part of the Nomad Foods’ Group Portfolio Team which are responsible for the Win with our Food Quadrant of the Flywheel. The team work as part of a central cross functional team in close collaboration with marketing colleagues organised by cluster covering 22 European locations.
Innovation & Renovation
1. Understand the category vision and how its key drivers are the basis for segment growth and brand growth – build clear sell in for innovation and renovation in line with this to support market execution.
2. Be able to develop compelling innovation concepts, that are co-created with consumers to uncover true insights and identify clear benefits and reasons to believe, taking advantage also of disruptive techniques and stimulus to trigger unexpected ideas using influence from outside the traditional references
3. Understand the principles of portfolio management and space & place to be able to support MUs to identify opportunities for NPD
4. Have looked beyond the immediate frozen category to draw inspiration from the broader food market and led the team to apply these learnings within strategies and plans
5. Lead innovation and renovation work streams, working in a cross functional team.
6. Strong understanding of consumer validation methodology, how to interpret data and insights and make informed recommendations.
7. Understand the One Nomad Innovation Process and Stage Gate process – lead workshops and mobilise teams behind the workstreams.
Building Knowledge to Win (Flywheel Process, Playbooks & Best Practice Sharing)
8. Be able to assess performance as part of flywheel process to inform strategy for segment.
9. Be able to lead flywheel workshops for a MWB and be the support for markets/ clusters to consult on analysis, blueprints.
10. Build clear toolkits for execution to inspire MUs and support innovation implementation ensuring there is a continuous loop of learn & optimise
11. Challenge the status quo, seeking and implementing new learnings to continuously improve business performance and share best practice across the organisation.
Commercial Acumen
12. Has a clear understanding of PPA/ Price/ Promo and understand how the levers can work to support both innovation and renovation
13. Working collaboratively with Insights, Global Sales, RDQ, PMO, Supply Chain and Finance Colleagues to deliver strategic P&L that meets or exceeds KPIs for the NPDs and great quality marketing execution
14. Budget Management – manage non working A&P budget related to segment/ MWB
Qualifications
15. 6 years working experience Marketing / Commercial in FMCG companies, ideally food
16. Proven track record of achievement in an FMCG environment
17. Successfully led product innovation development, having ideally worked in a category led organisation
18. Able to demonstrate strong people influence skills and collaboration to work in cross functional Teams
19. Excellent project management skills
20. Ideally work across different countries and with diverse nationalities
21. Mandatory language requirements: English.
22. Understanding of Italian /German / French would be an advantage
