This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the RNLI’s Digital team as a User Experience Specialist on a temporary contract of up to 12 months. As part of a dynamic team, you’ll help create user-focused and evidence-based digital experiences across multiple channels that delight users and exceed business objectives.

About the role
As a User Experience Specialist, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of user experience across the RNLI, such as arranging, supporting, and leading user research with workshops, user interviews, and usability testing. This will include:
* Using your skills to interpret and analyse findings from research to understand clear, meaningful patterns and present actionable insights to internal and external stakeholders that will help make our solutions easier to use and more intuitive.
* Developing new navigation models and site structures, and validating them through tools such as card-sorting and tree test surveys.
* Evaluating and reviewing existing products for usefulness, usability, visual design, content, and branding to create value for the RNLI and improve the user experience.
* Identifying new research techniques and finding ways to constantly improve processes, templates, and guidelines for the user-centred design process.
* Supporting the RNLI User Experience strategy and being an ambassador for user experience across the organization by sharing your knowledge and helping teams incorporate users into their projects.
About you
To be our User Experience Specialist, you'll need significant and recent experience in user-centric design, primarily in industry or agency settings, with a portfolio of case studies demonstrating the design of excellent user experiences for products and services within large and complex organizations. You should be able to communicate across all relevant levels and ensure stakeholders understand the benefits of UX. We look for:
* Proven experience with various qualitative and quantitative user research methods (e.g., usability testing, ethnographic research, participatory design, co-creation, field testing, etc.)
* Experience creating prototypes using tools such as Figma, Axure, etc.
* Experience with design tools such as personas, customer journey maps, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
* Experience in service design methodologies is desirable.
* Experience delivering an ERP or a commercial off-the-shelf system via a UCD approach is beneficial.
This role is suitable for someone user-focused, flexible to work solo or as part of a team, skilled at encouraging openness, with excellent listening, analysis, and problem-solving skills. Enjoys researching and presenting findings, keen to develop UX skills continuously, and proactive in sharing new knowledge with the team.
