The Strategic Programme for Planned (SPPC) has an opportunity for a one year secondment for an Assistant Director whose role will be to shape the national delivery of planned care improvement and diagnostics in Wales in line with the intentions set out in Welsh Government's 'Our plan for transforming and modernising planned care and reduce waiting lists in Wales'. The key role of the SPPC is to drive forward key ambitions & ensure the coordinated development and delivery of high‑quality Planned Care and Diagnostic services. In doing so the programme will promote and support the adoption and implementation within health boards of transformational programmes across Planned care and Diagnostics in order to realise sustainable models of service; and achieve improvement and recovery ambitions in the short, medium and longer term. The Assistant Director of Operational Improvement, Planned Care & Diagnostics will be expected to provide drive in championing transformation & support the planning of Planned Care and diagnostic services. The post holder will have a leadership role in supporting Clinical implementation Networks develop new guidance and models for services and they will lead on a defined area of the programme transformation and improvement portfolio, & also have a central role in supporting Welsh Government and Health boards in delivering the RTT and 8‑week diagnostic targets as well as the 200,000 reductions in the planned care waiting list size. Reporting to the Director of Operational Improvement and working closely with Health Board Operational leads, the post holder will provide leadership for the operational and strategic transformation agenda of Diagnostics within NHS Wales. The role will focus on supporting health boards with the delivery of high‑quality services for patients, ensuring resources are managed efficiently and effectively. This work will transform Planned Care services and practices to meet the ambition of sustainable Diagnostics services for the Welsh population, set out in April 2022 in the National Recovery Plan.
