T Level Assessment Leader

Background

The Assessment Leader is responsible for delivering end-to-end assessment activities within T Levels at Pearson. This role involves leading on the process for T Level Assessment on a range of units within a given sector reporting to a Qualification Delivery and Award Manager and supported by the Operations Lead T Levels. The Assessment Leader will also liaise with stakeholders to ensure that External Assessment outcomes are being met, and that all relevant data is collected and reported throughout the standardisation and Awarding process. The ideal candidate for this role should have strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, as well as experience working in an assessment-related role.

Role Purpose

The purpose of the Assessment Leader is to ensure that end-to-end processes of External Assessment are conducted in a fair and accurate manner, in accordance with relevant policies and procedures of Pearson. This role requires the coordination of key activities within a given number of sectors, including scheduling and administering meetings, contracting and leading of AA workforce and providing feedback to managers and stakeholders as required. The Assessment Leader is also responsible for ensuring that quality standards are met and comply with all applicable regulations. Additionally, the Assessment Leader is responsible for providing guidance and advice to customers on best practices for conducting external assessment.

Role

The Assessment Leader will be responsible for managing the end-to-end exam series cycle for a portfolio of externally assessed units within T LEVEL qualifications. You will be accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of assessment content and outcomes in their assigned area. The postholder must be capable of delivering essential assessment tasks accurately and on time within a high-pressure, regulated environment. This is a varied and demanding role, requiring a versatile individual who can effectively balance competing demands and priorities while focusing on achieving overall objectives and key results (OKRs).

Duties:

Delivery/ Data Management:

* Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the exam series cycle for their designated assessments
* Identify, escalate and manage risks and issues related to the delivery of your portfolio of units, coordinating teams and enabling collaborative problem-solving
* Plan and manage schedules for an exam series relevant to your portfolio of units
* Support with the development of accurate forecasts and resource planning
* Support with the contracting of Assessment Associates and recruitment of senior Assessment Associates
* Manage the training process for contracted Assessment Associates, ensuring successful delivery of a series
* Work in collaboration with the business and Assessment Associates to monitor the successful completion of activities, to the highest quality and on-time
* Monitor key performance indicators, including analysing marker progress reports, and taking relevant action where needed to ensure standards are maintained
* Contribute to lessons learned activities and action plan implementation
* Analyse assessment performance data with a view to making improvements and defending decisions in relation to pass marks or the setting of grade boundaries
* Follow tight timelines with accuracy and escalate issues if they occur
* Responsible for accurate Content and Assessment management for their allocated assessments
* Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure accurate content production and timely assessment results

Relationship management:

* Build and maintain successful relationships with all external and internal partners
* Contribute to the quality monitoring of senior Assessment Associates
* Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure accurate content production and timely assessment results
* Equip stakeholders with necessary assessment tools, information and resources, to ensure agreed outcomes and deadlines are achieved whilst maintaining quality
* Deputise for the Qualification Delivery and Award Manager and/or the Senior Content and Assessment Leader as required

Customer service :

* Take a customer-centric to ensure a great customer experience
* Ensure accurate and timely responses to customer queries
* Use customer relationship management tools to respond to customer queries and complaints, providing an exceptional customer experience
* Identify trends in customer needs relevant to qualifications in your portfolio with a view to improving the customer experience, escalating any risks

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Ensure successful delivery of qualifications end to end, from inception to results, including the successful delivery of quality assurance processes and the production of fit-for-purpose assessment materials
* Build relationships with key internal colleagues in operations, technology, delivery teams, as well as Assessment Associates and centres
* Identify, escalate and manage risks, ensuring that adequate mitigation and contingency is in place
* Provide an exceptional customer experience

* Confident user of IT software including Microsoft Office, Adobe, and comfortable with learning to use new technology and systems

Desirable Skills :

* Experience of working within a highly regulated environment, particularly in the Education sector and the end-to-end qualification delivery cycle
* Project Management experience
* Experience in driving continuous improvement
* Assessment or content creation experience

Work Location & Set Up

Our ideal candidate will be aligned to one of Pearson's main UK offices i.e. 80 Strand (London), Manchester or Hellaby Rotherham. You will be required to report in the office once per month and/or quarter.
