Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Thetford, Norfolk

An established and highly respected engineering business based in Norfolk is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing design team.
Working on a varied portfolio of technically interesting projects, this role offers the opportunity to design practical, real-world engineering solutions from concept through to manufacture and installation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced design engineer who enjoys collaboration, problem-solving, and seeing their designs come to life.
The Role Working closely with project management, production, and installation teams, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical designs using modern CAD tools. Projects range from individual component designs through to complex 3D engineering systems.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Producing 3D models, general arrangement drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings
2. Interpreting and analysing client briefs and technical requirements
3. Liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
4. Supporting fabrication and installation teams throughout the project lifecycle
5. Conducting site surveys and assisting with marking-out when required
Full on-the-job training is provided, and the role offers genuine scope for long-term development and progression.
What We’re Looking For Essential:
6. Strong experience using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred; alternatives considered)
7. Background working within a mechanical design or engineering office environment
8. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
9. A practical, solutions-focused approach to design
Desirable:
10. Experience with Autodesk Revit
11. Exposure to BIM environments
12. Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
13. Comfort working at height when required
