Junior Geotechnical Engineer

We’re partnering with an innovative and fast-growing engineering team within the renewable energy sector. Backed by an established infrastructure business, this newly formed division is focused on delivering high-quality geotechnical solutions across a wide variety of projects.
This role is ideal for someone at the early stage of their career who is keen to build strong technical foundations, gain hands‑on experience, and contribute to meaningful projects supporting the energy transition.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, gaining exposure to all aspects of geotechnical engineering across the full project lifecycle.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the preparation of geotechnical factual and interpretive reports
* Processing and analysing ground investigation data, including borehole logs and lab results
* Assisting with routine geotechnical calculations (e.g. bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability)
* Attending site visits and supporting construction monitoring activities
* Maintaining project documentation, drawing registers, and data systems
* Taking part in a structured training and development programme, working towards chartership
What We’re Looking For
* Degree (BEng or MEng) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology preferred
* A solid understanding of soil and/or rock mechanics principles
* Curiosity about how ground conditions influence engineering design
* Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
* A collaborative and adaptable approach to teamwork
* Familiarity with standard office software; experience with tools like AutoCAD or gINT is beneficial but not essential
Nice to Have
* Exposure to sectors such as solar PV, structural steel, or modular construction
* Awareness of sustainability, ESG principles, or innovation processes
