Overview
Category Manager role at Bristol Waste Company. Location: Albert Road, Bristol / Hybrid. Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday - Friday. Salary: £56,265.00 per annum.
Purpose Of The Role
This is a key role within the newly established Strategic Procurement function reporting directly into the Head of Procurement. The role is fundamental in leading on key spend categories to ensure cost saving, risk mitigation and value creation (including sustainability). It requires a pro-active, highly collaborative, dynamic approach and delivery of Procurement best practices with a clear focus on output.
This role is expected to lead or support in categories such as Consumables, Corporate services, IT (Tech / Communications / Data), Fleet (including services), Commercial Services (e.g. cleaning, security, Cash in Transit) with support for other categories such as Waste Disposal services and FM (e.g. Plant, Building Maintenance and Capital buildings). Allocation of categories will depend on strategic goals and the Category Manager’s skills, experience and development preferences. The Category Manager will need to demonstrate a track record of delivering both financial and non-financial value by applying procurement best practices such as Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Relationships Management (SRM).
Key Responsibilities
* Leads and executes the category management process in line with Strategic Sourcing methodology and the Total Value concept
* Sets Category vision and strategy after full cross-functional review
* Provides Category leadership to Bristol Waste Company
* Develops and delivers Category specific targets / KPIs and all required category measurement and reporting on a regular basis
* Identifies and delivers category non-financial value such as Sustainability and Innovation
* Creates and delivers all required documentation to enable the Strategic Sourcing process
* Participates in or leads Category specific strategic sourcing events
* Leads and delivers all Category specific supplier management (SRM)
* Generates category related insight and knowledge management
* Delivers ad-hoc operational procurement support outside core category areas when required
* Delivers category specific digitalisation where appropriate
* Leads Category specific stakeholder engagement
* Represents Bristol Waste Company internally and externally to supply chain suppliers and partners

Essential Requirements
* 5-10 years’ experience in Procurement, ideally Category Management with indirect spend
* Experience in at least three of the role-specific categories
* CIPS qualification or working towards
* Track record of delivering collaborative improvement projects with end-to-end process efficiency
* Cross-functional, forward-thinking with the ability to drive value and align to the company’s vision
* Ability to perform market positioning analysis and understand costs and value creation
* Excellent communicator able to influence at all levels and secure internal buy-in
* Agile, multitasking and dynamic team player with the ability to deliver at speed and with limited supervision
* Flexible approach, capable of constructive challenge and building key stakeholder relationships
