Piccadilly Construction, our in-house Construction Management Team, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer/Senior Buyer to assist with purchasing and procurement. This role requires supporting the Procurement Manager in buying arrangements related to our construction and maintenance activities.
* Negotiate optimal supply chain arrangements with key materials suppliers.
* Develop long-term strategic relationships with suppliers to maximize economies of scale.
* Schedule and place material and plant orders, optimizing for cost and quality.
* Review Architects/Engineers drawings for discrepancies and compliance with material specifications, resolving queries with relevant teams.
* Produce material cost schedules and budgets for new projects, monitoring costs to stay within budgets.
* Create schedules for material enquiries, obtain quotations from suppliers, and assess their proposals.
* Report and project material cost increases as they occur.
* Resolve invoice queries with the accounts team.
* Conduct on-site material checks and produce reports.
* Attend sites regularly to oversee supply and material issues.
* Negotiate with suppliers and raise orders for the wider business, including property maintenance, sales, and marketing, where strategic procurement adds value.
* Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders such as contractors, suppliers, in-house teams, consultants, and advisors to ensure project success.
* Perform other duties as required by the employer.
About You:
* Understanding of construction industry procurement processes.
* Knowledge of effective buying functions within construction.
* Good understanding of the materials supply chain.
* Skills:
* A proactive, positive, and commercially minded attitude with a willingness to challenge norms and work efficiently.
* Excellent financial and numerical skills, including budgeting and cash flow management.
* Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage workloads effectively.
* Experience of at least 2 years in procurement within a construction company.
