The Environment TD is responsible for creating high-end 3D environments for shots and sequences. The role balances technical and artistic demands and helps set the standard for environment creation and layout workflows.
Requirements
Duties:
* Hero Environment Creation: Build detailed, shot-ready environments using modular and custom elements
* Scene Assembly: Manage large-scale scenes for use in lookdev and lighting
* Technical Oversight: Ensure environments are clean, efficient, and fit into studio pipeline requirements
* Collaboration: Resolve scene integration issues with layout, lighting, and comp
* Visual Fidelity: Maintain realism, composition, and scale accuracy in all environments
* Scene Organisation: Maintain high standards of scene cleanliness and usability
* Documentation: Contribute to internal guides and support workflow clarity
* Deliver visually strong, technically efficient environments on time
Skills, attributes and experience:
* Expert in Maya, Houdini, Substance, Mari, and environment build tools
* Advanced knowledge of layout, modularity, and large-scale scene management
* Strong technical problem-solving and communication
* Excellent eye for composition, lighting, and form
* Experience of using on-set data such as photogrammetry and lidar
* Familiarity with SpeedTree, Gaea, or terrain workflows
* Python or tool feedback experience is a plus
* Understanding of camera projection, matte painting, and DMP workflows
* Ability to create and improve team tools or workflows
* Excellent communicator, sharing information clearly and actively listening
* Strong time management, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and escalate delays in a timely manner
* Adaptable to change with the ability to stay focused and maintain a positive attitude
