Marine Engineer
Due to the continued expansion of our portfolio of survey services we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Marine Engineer to join our team in Irvine, Scotland.
The role will involve the provision of effective maintenance of all boats, survey equipment and promoting the safe operation of vessels. Time will be split between working in our workshop and aboard our inshore survey vessels.
The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):
* Execute mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair work on marine vessels, engines, and related equipment
* Undertake essential workshop operations, including:
o Inspection and servicing of vessels, trailers, and survey instrumentation to ensure optimal operational performance (Comprehensive training will be provided on specialised industry equipment)
* Execute maintenance activities according to established preventive maintenance schedules
* Troubleshoot and determine root causes of equipment malfunctions and operational failures
* Procure and requisition replacement components; interpret technical drawings and manufacturer documentation as required
* Maintain comprehensive and current maintenance logs and technical records
Location
Candidates must live within (or be willing to relocate to) a commutable distance of the company’s offices in Irvine.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
* National Certificate or higher qualification in a relevant engineering field (Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical)
* Demonstrated experience working with:
o Caterpillar and Cummins diesel engines & generators
o Suzuki outboard engines or equivalent marine propulsion systems
* Self-driven individual capable of performing effectively in high-pressure environments
* Collaborative team member with the capability to operate autonomously when necessary
* Professional presentation, strong work ethic, and meticulous attention to detail
* Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
* Proactive, solution-focused approach
* Proficient in English communication (verbal and written)
* Valid full UK driving licence
* Residence within reasonable commuting distance of Irvine, Ayrshire
