Job Description:
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Integrated Health and Social Care Occupational Therapy Service.
Based in Cowal Community Hospital in Dunoon, we cover the beautiful Cowal peninsula of Argyll and Bute.
You will be part of a dynamic team providing a client-centred, seamless service to in-patients within Cowal Community Hospital and the local community.
Your responsibilities include assessment, rehabilitation, reablement, provision of equipment, and minor/major adaptations for adults with physical disabilities or illnesses. The role is varied and may include rapid response work as part of the Extended Community Care Team to prevent hospital admissions and facilitate discharges. We also respond to our local A&E department.
You need to be flexible, with good time management skills.
We work closely with Community Nursing, AHP, Social Work, and Care and Repair colleagues, and maintain good relationships with GP Practices.
Effective communication and multidisciplinary team working are essential. You will be involved in service development and provide clinical leadership and support to junior staff, as well as deputise for the Team Lead as required.
The organisation supports professional development with regular supervision, performance reviews, and access to training.
HCPC registration and a full driving licence are essential.
Dunoon is easily accessible from Glasgow and Inverclyde.
Part-time hours or job sharing may be considered. We are also open to discussing development posts for Band 5 candidates interested in progression.
