Salary: £36,000 - £50,800. Location: Bristol, London, Manchester or Swansea with hybrid-working policy. Working pattern expectations: shifts of 08:00-17:00 or 09:00-18:00 (Mon-Fri); during peak periods shifts 07:00-16:00 or 10:00-19:00. Depending on client contracts, you may be required to join the Out of Hours on-call rota to support urgent situations outside standard hours (additional compensation).

About the Role
As an Application Support Engineer, you will work within Managed Service teams onboarding new services without disruption, deliver enhancements, provide ongoing maintenance and support, and continuously improve digital services and service operations using DevSecOps practices and data‑driven user analytics. You will maintain a range of digital services, data services and platform offerings, manage application management procedures and documentation, and drive application enhancements through to live operation.
SC Eligibility
An increasing number of customers require SC (Security Check) clearance. Eligible candidates will be considered for this role, with a back‑to‑work eligibility requirement of 5 years UK residency and 5 years employment history (or full‑time education). If eligibility is not met at any stage, the application will not progress, and you will be informed of the reason.

Key Responsibilities
* Taking part in proactive knowledge transfer activities with incumbent suppliers
* Code review and quality analysis, including review of complete services and implementation of code scanning tooling
* Reviewing and improving technical documentation such as architecture overviews, deployment process definitions and incident resolution runbooks
* Ensuring all requests for support are handled according to established standards and procedures, with suggestions for improvement over time
* Participating in incident investigation/root cause analysis and delivering technical solutions within agreed SLAs
* Implementing application enhancements to improve business performance with a holistic product focus
* Providing out-of-hours support where necessary, with on-call rota management
* Automating and improving monitoring of application performance, including cloud and application level tooling
* Updating knowledge base articles, playbooks and service definitions
* Applying test-driven development, ensuring adequate test coverage and evidencing testing outcomes
* Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting multiple environments
* Being an active member of Made Tech’s communities of practice, sharing knowledge
Skills and Experience
Experience with ITSM tooling (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk, PagerDuty, JIRA Service Desk) and agile methodologies. Experience in incident management and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure or GCP). Proficiency in at least one programming language, knowledge of SOLID principles, OOP and TDD. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) is desirable.
