Brief Description
Join the best-of-the-best in rail engineering. The Technician Fast Track scheme is an intensive training programme designed for candidates with ambition, aptitude and potential to excel in a challenging and rewarding field. You may be a college leaver with a vocational skill, a career switcher, or restarting your career.
You will start as an Operative and train with a small group, both in the classroom and on site, to progress to Technician level.

Routes and Disciplines
We have three engineering disciplines to choose from:
* Signalling: Maintain signals, points, and track circuits. 24/7 shifts; diagnose and repair faults.
* Track (Permanent Way): Maintain and repair tracks for passenger and freight services; use advanced technology and inspections to ensure safety.
* Overhead Line (OHL): Not available for this cohort; future opportunities may arise. OHL teams ensure the integrity of overhead lines and respond to faults with safety checks.

Essential Requirements
* Driving Licence: Full clean driving licence
* Medical assessments: Willing to undertake medical assessments, including drug and alcohol testing
Desirable Requirements
* HGV licence for overhead line positions
The programme is fast-paced and demanding. We seek flexible, determined candidates ready to take on a physically demanding and mentally challenging role. If you have the potential and drive, intensive training and support will be provided; it typically takes 18 months to two years to reach Technician level.
