The Role
You will be a dynamic, driven individual committed to supporting residents in Guildford and Waverley to address their alcohol use, improving their health and wellbeing. Working closely with primary care services and key stakeholders, you will provide brief interventions, signposting, and onward referrals to meet individual needs. The role will require:
1. Working with the local community, making every contact count through motivational interviewing, brief advice, and intervention.
2. Identifying and targeting key partnerships.
3. Supporting Surrey County Council in collating and gathering information from various sources, partner agencies, and residents to evaluate project success.
You will:
1. Have experience working with people experiencing alcohol difficulties or who are vulnerable.
2. Carry a caseload ensuring thorough assessments of needs and safeguarding of service users, their families, and the wider community from harm.
3. Be responsible for planning and delivering effective treatment interventions.
4. Deliver face-to-face and group work utilizing evidence-based interventions.
The Service
This is a new community alcohol brief intervention service targeting Guildford and Waverley. The service will work closely with primary care networks, GPs, and other stakeholders to refer individuals seeking support for low-threshold alcohol use. We will provide brief interventions, signposting, and guidance to promote improved health and wellbeing. As a new service, the successful candidate will be essential in building partnerships and developing service pathways and processes. The role involves dynamic support across Guildford and Waverley, working from community venues and GP surgeries.
