As a as Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and processing of the monthly/four weekly payroll for our employees. This role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and a good understanding of payroll legislation and systems. You will also support the finance department with a wide range of accounting tasks including bookkeeping, invoice processing, bank reconciliations, and general administrative duties. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth running of financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in the end-to-end processing of company payroll(s) accurately and on time.
· Input, update, and verify employee data including starters, leavers, salary changes, and deductions.
· Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity across systems.
· Liaise with HMRC and pension providers where necessary.
· Support the Head of Finance with reports, audits, and compliance checks.
· Ensure compliance with statutory regulations including tax codes, NI, SSP, SMP, and auto-enrolment.
· Reconcile payroll data and support month-end and year-end processes.
· Process purchase and sales invoices accurately and on time.
· Perform daily bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
· Maintain the accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers.
· Handle petty cash and employee expense claims.
· Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
· Respond to supplier and customer queries professionally and promptly.
· Maintain accurate and organised financial records and documentation.
· Perform general administrative tasks to support the finance team.

Qualifications
Qualified Accounting Technician – AAT – Desirable
