<div><h3>Senior Technician (Chemotherapy e-Prescribing)</h3><p><b>Closing date:</b> 14 June 2026</p><p>We are seeking a motivated and proactive Pharmacy Technician to join the ChemoCare team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract as a Senior Pharmacy Technician at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.</p><p>The role is based at Beech Hill Road on the Royal Hallamshire Hospital central campus and supports the Haematology and Specialised Cancer Services Directorate as well as four partner organisations within the North Trent Cancer Network.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><ul><li>Coordinate the Chemotherapy e‑prescribing system helpdesk and address any issues.</li><li>Collaborate with the System Manager to implement projects and upgrades for the e‑prescribing system.</li><li>Set up regimens, protocols (including clinical trial regimens), and drug libraries, following SOPs to sign‑off and release them for use.</li><li>Act on change requests to the live prescribing system under the supervision of the Principal Pharmacist or System Manager.</li><li>Train pharmacy staff, nursing staff and administrative staff in the use of the Chemotherapy e‑prescribing system.</li><li>Deputise for the System Manager when absent.</li><li>Contribute to pharmacy departmental services during bank holidays, evenings and weekends.</li></ul><h3>About us</h3><p>Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors, offering excellent benefits, professional development opportunities and policies that support a balance between personal and professional life.</p><p>The vacancy is advertised on a fixed‑term contract basis for 12 months, with review of the fixed‑term status in line with the Trusts legal obligations.</p><p>Existing NHS staff will be considered only on a secondment basis, subject to agreement with their current line manager.</p><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.</li><li>NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent.</li><li>Evidence of continuous professional development.</li><li>Diploma‑level IT subject or equivalent, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Extensive experience within a hospital pharmacy environment.</li><li>Experience of processing chemotherapy prescriptions.</li><li>Accredited checking status (or equivalent) or working towards it.</li><li>Experience with various IT packages (e.g., Microsoft Office, Pharmacy Dispensing System).</li><li>Experience working in a team and unsupervised.</li><li>Experience within an aseptic unit.</li><li>Supervisory experience or willingness to undertake short courses in HR and management.</li></ul><h3>Skills and Knowledge</h3><ul><li>Excellent organisational and motivational skills demonstrated in previous roles.</li><li>Ability to manage conflict, complaints, stress and verbal aggression constructively.</li><li>Commitment to high standards of accuracy and reliability.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships at all levels.</li><li>Strong communication skills, including active listening, writing and verbal communication with individuals and groups.</li><li>Ability to manage complex workloads under pressure and prioritise to meet deadlines.</li></ul><h3>Personal Qualities / Aptitudes</h3><ul><li>Facilitate problem‑solving and project delivery, resolving conflict amicably.</li><li>Prioritise tasks, delegate effectively and manage time.</li><li>Analyse projects, recognise impact and take action on conflicting views.</li><li>Engage others in change processes.</li><li>Develop detailed project plans and adapt to changing circumstances.</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>The post requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check, governed by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.</p><p><b>Salary:</b>£32,073 to £39,043 per year (pro‑rata for part‑time staff).</p><h3>Contract</h3><p>Fixed term (12 months).</p><h3>Working pattern</h3><p>Full‑time, Part‑time, Job share, Flexible working.</p></div>
