Overview
Ecology Support Officer role at FlyAddiction -Split Cane Bamboo Fly Fishing Rods- (client: Reviving Exmoors Heartlands project). Fixed-term contract until 31 March 2026.
Location: Exmoor National Park area (Dulverton, Somerset, UK). This role supports the Reviving Exmoors Heartlands landscape restoration initiative, funded by Defra.
The Role
As an Ecology Support Officer, you will provide technical and administrative ecological support to the Reviving Exmoors Heartlands Landscape Recovery project. You will focus on completing a monitoring and evaluation database by March 2026, ensure GIS data is available, and present ecological baseline information clearly while supporting other aspects of the project. You will manage and compile ecological data from multiple surveys and sources, ensure GIS project data is effectively managed and shared, and assist in delivering GIS habitat and species data to Defra.
* Support the development of a comprehensive data-management plan
* Assist with other technical ecological tasks as they arise
About You / Qualifications
To be considered as an Ecology Support Officer, you will need:
* Knowledge and experience of the Biodiversity Net Gain metric
* Knowledge and experience of using digital Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and mapping tools, including QGIS and/or ArcGIS Pro
* Administration or database-management experience and proficiency in Excel
* An understanding of data sources within the nature-conservation sector (experience desirable)
* A proven ability to carry out tasks accurately and within set timescales
* A degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant environmental, data or GIS discipline
