Sustainability Champions (Student Only Role)
We are recruiting student-staff Sustainability Champions to work within their academic departments. In this role, you will work with academics and professional services staff, Students' Union (SU) teams, the university Sustainability team and your fellow students to embed sustainability and climate justice into the curriculum and academic experience at Bristol.
We are recruiting Sustainability Champions for the following academic departments:
* Any postgraduate (ESD Network): a postgraduate student from any department with experience of qualitative research and a desire to work with the university's Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Network on pan-university initiatives
* Biological Sciences
* Business School (1x UG and 1x PG)
* Cabot Institute for the Environment
* Civil, Aerospace & Design Engineering (CADE)
* Chemistry
* Cellular & Molecular Medicine (CMM)
* Computer Science
* Education
* Engineering Mathematics
* Law
* Mathematics
* Medical School (job share): two Sustainability Champions sharing the role (reduced hours each)
* Physics
* Physiology, Pharmacology & Neuroscience (PPN)
* Vet School (half time): Vet is funding a 'half-time' Sustainability Champion to work 3 hours per week
Role Details
Role: Sustainability Champion
Hours: 6 hours per week (term time and through June)
Contract: Fixed Term until 30 June 2025
Pay: £12 per hour, plus holiday pay

* You have (or be seeking to build) experience working, volunteering, or campaigning on sustainability issues.
* You have a good understanding of sustainability and climate justice and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as wellbeing, community and fun (the SU's values).
* You know how sustainability (including environmental and social aspects) relates to your discipline specifically, and you have ideas about how this could be reflected in the curriculum.
* You're comfortable working with and influencing stakeholders to achieve a set of aims.
* You are willing to learn and to unlearn, to make space for everyone to contribute, and to be bold, diplomatic and persistent in the face the face of barriers, changes and bureaucracy.
* You are a current student at any level of study.
