Applications Engineer
Location: Midlands-based (Nationwide Role)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
A well-established machine tool supplier is seeking an apprentice-trained Applications Engineer (or CNC Programmer / Machinist) to join its experienced field-based training and applications engineering team.
This role would suit someone from within the machine tool or precision engineering sector who enjoys customer interaction, technical problem-solving, and hands-on machine work. Experience across turning and milling is highly desirable.
The Role
Working nationwide, you will support customers across a broad range of CNC machine tools, delivering training, applications support, and technical guidance both pre- and post-sale.
Key responsibilities include:
* Training customers on the use of CNC machine tools
* Supporting customers to maximise machine capability and performance
* Demonstrating machines pre- and post-sale
* Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
* Providing technical support to customers and internal teams
* Feeding back technical issues and best-practice improvements
* Recommending process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
Candidate Requirements
* Completed a minimum 4-year engineering apprenticeship
* Strong background in CNC programming and machining
* Comfortable working hands‑on with machine tools
* Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills
* Experience with turning and milling machines preferred
* Exposure to ProtoTRAK® and/or Siemens controls beneficial (training provided)
* Willing to travel nationwide, including occasional nights away
