The Role
Based at our Headington campus and reporting to the UK Recruitment Manager (External Engagement), the Student Ambassador Coordinator will manage and develop the University’s Student Ambassador Scheme to contribute to its widening participation and recruitment objectives. This is a full-time role covering maternity leave.
You will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training, and deployment of Student Ambassadors and Mentors. Key relationships involve working closely with the UK Recruitment and Admissions Team, the Directorate Marketing, Recruitment & Engagement, the HR department, the Careers team, and academic colleagues. You will directly line manage the Student Ambassadors.
About the Team
The Student Ambassador Coordinator sits within the UK Recruitment and Admissions Team, which is part of the Marketing, Recruitment and Engagement Directorate.
This team is central to the University's efforts to achieve its recruitment and widening participation objectives. The team works to promote the University and Higher Education generally through a variety of activities, including Open Days, Applicant Days, and summer schools. Key external relationships include professional bodies such as UCAS, OfS, NEON, and HELOA.
What will I be doing?
● Coordinate the full recruitment process for Student Ambassadors, including promotion, selection events, organising contracts, and DBS checks.
● Develop, deliver, and coordinate a comprehensive, ongoing training programme to ensure Ambassadors are professional and well-informed.

● Manage the booking and deployment of Student Ambassadors across the UK Recruitment and Admissions Team, the Directorate, and the wider university.
● Act as the immediate line manager to all Student Ambassadors, providing feedback, coaching, applying initial disciplinary processes, and providing references.
● Oversee all record-keeping for training, work schedules, and payments, with support from the Directorate Operations Team.
● Coordinate the development and delivery of processes to comply with Student route visa regulations.
What skills do I need?
● A Degree or equivalent qualification.
● Experience of working in higher education ideally in student recruitment, widening participation, or marketing.
● Experience of developing training programmes.
● Experience of supervising or managing staff or volunteers.
● The ability to contribute to the student experience by helping students develop professional and personal skills.
● Ability to work to develop a strong understanding of the Higher Education Access Tracker ambassador database.
About the Location
This role is based at our vibrant Headington campus, which is the principal location of work. This role is likely to require occasional weekend work (approximately 5 Saturdays per year) to support key recruitment activities like Open and Applicant days. Any hybrid working arrangement will be discussed at the interview stage.
