Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the role
The delivery of highly effective medical care to the population.
Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
Effective management of long‑term conditions.
Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescriptions, and other associated administrative tasks.
On a rotational basis undertake the role of duty doctor.
Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.
Collaborative working.
Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.
Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.
Prepare and complete the revalidation process.
Commit to self‑learning.
Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.
Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.
Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
About us
We are a small and friendly GP practice located in Long Eaton, with excellent access to Nottingham or Derby or further afield. The Junction 25 of the M1 is less than 2 miles away. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated GP to join our friendly and caring Practice as a Salaried GP.
We pride ourselves on being a well‑established training practice providing general medical services for our practice list of 5,800 patients. This is a rewarding and varied role for a GP who shares our ethos of providing patient‑centred care and is motivated to maintain and improve our high QOF achievement and contribute to the development of the organisational and business aspect of the Practice.
We are a fully computerised Practice, using TPP SystmOne and working towards becoming paper‑light. We have an integrated nursing team including a Nursing team, Health Care Assistant and an efficient and supportive administration team.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
* Inclusion on the NHS Performers List
* MRCGP (Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners) or equivalent
* Evidence of ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development)
* Teaching qualification (if training or teaching is part of the role)
Knowledge & Skills
* Sound clinical knowledge across general practice presentations
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload
* Understanding of medico‑legal responsibilities, including confidentiality and safeguarding
* Understanding of local healthcare systems and referral pathways
* Teaching or mentoring skills (e.g. for medical students or GP registrars)

Other Requirements
* Eligible to work in the UK

Experience
* Experience of working in UK general practice (can include placements during GP training)
* Experience of managing common chronic conditions (e.g. diabetes, asthma, hypertension)
* Experience with QOF (Quality and Outcomes Framework) and safeguarding
* Experience of working in multi‑disciplinary teams
* Previous involvement in audit or quality improvement projects
* Experience in using common GP IT systems (e.g. EMIS Web, SystmOne)
