Job overview

If applying for a secondment post, you must seek authorisation from your manager who will go through the secondment policy with you.

Ward 33 which is a busy 23 bedded in-patient Haematology Unit at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough providing a wide range of care to patients with blood disorders and blood cancers.

We care for patients who are having acute problems related to their cancer, side effects from treatments, radiotherapy or chemotherapy and patients requiring palliative care in the final stages of their illness. The ward offers an out of hours emergency advice support line and 3 designated TYA beds

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for taking charge of the ward and deputising in the absence of the ward manager

The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the speciality and will assist in the management and organisation of nursing work in the ward/department within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

The post holder will supervise the working of health care assistants and support workers and support the training and assessment of student nurses.

The post holder would be expected to Lead the team, undertake Chemotherapy administration and support the ward manager.
