Sony Pictures EMEA Distribution Research team supports local Networks, Content Distribution, and transactional Home Entertainment businesses through market and audience-based research across all territories and television platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the EMEA research team as either a Research Assistant or Research Analyst, depending on experience. Both roles are vital in providing analysis to Sony’s businesses in the region.
Based in London and working with Sony’s award-winning Research team, this role connects the business to audience behaviors and industry trends. You will work on projects across the entire EMEA region, independently delivering analysis based on research briefs from stakeholders, under the guidance of your manager.
Collaboration with team members and other Sony functions is essential to ensure research informs decision-making effectively, positively impacting the business.
The role covers various media research areas: consumer behavior, industry trends, linear and digital direct-to-consumer brands, subscription and ad-supported models, in-region content productions, and large licensing agreements.
This is a 12-month fixed-term position based in Paddington, London.
Core Responsibilities
1. Assist with and lead research creation to support content licensing sales across broadcasters, SVOD, and AVOD platforms, focusing on large sales events and new/library titles.
2. Understand and utilize consumer trends influencing digital retail sales, including upcoming Sony titles like Spider-Man, 28-Years Later, and others.
3. Communicate insights through concise, visually appealing materials to the Research team and broader business.
4. Learn methodologies for Sony’s third-party datasets and their applications.
Skills and Experience
* Typically 1-2 years’ experience for Analyst level; relevant qualifications or experience in media research for Assistant level.
* Experience in market research or media roles is beneficial for Analyst; relevant education is ideal for Assistant.
* Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
* Strong attention to detail, numerical analysis skills.
* Effective verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
* Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
* Team player with the ability to work independently.
* Passion for film and TV, especially Hollywood movies and U.S. series, with knowledge of industry trends.
* Experience with TV ratings data and software is a plus.
* Exposure to primary research data creation and use is preferred.
* Knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau is advantageous.
* Interest or experience with Generative AI tools related to research is a plus.
* English language skills required; additional EMEA languages are beneficial.
* Experience with TV measurement datasets (e.g., BARB, Nielsen) and research tools (e.g., GWI, YouGov) is helpful but not essential.
