Responsibilities
A great opportunity has just become available, and we are looking for a Senior Underwriting Assistant to join our fantastic team in London.
In this role your duties will be the provision of timely and accurate administrative support to Berkley Offshore Underwriting Managers’ property underwriters.
The principle responsibilities are:
1. General administration of Broker Submissions from initial receipt until closure in compliance with relevant guidelines, which includes;Creation of referencesAwareness of all submissions and their natureAwareness of the status of each submissionEnsuring each submission is processed to the extent appropriate to its statusCompletion of documentation required for processing written submissionso onitoring/Allocation of premium messages
2. Entry and maintenance of data entered into Open Co (Berkley Offshore’s underwriting, premium and claims system), including updating to reflect amendments.
3. Management of monthly account closure, providing underwriters with details of accounts to be closed, process achieved and deadlines for completion.
4. General management of premiums and monitoring of overdue premiums and Agents Balances with advice to relevant Underwriters of issues arising and management of their resolution.
5. Ongoing review of the administrative process, making suggestions for improvements where possible.
6. Provision of general administrative support including: filing (electronic and paper), file destruction and data entry and maintenance in the relevant system
7. Training and supervision of other Underwriting Assistants as appropriate, including;Provision of training relevant to their respective Job DescriptionsOversight of development and performance standardsRegular development review meetings and annual performance and objective settingGeneral line management support
8. Provision of general admin support to the Facultative Reinsurance Manager which will include assisting with maintenance of the Facultative Reinsurance Tracker and preparation of the monthly reports
Qualifications
9. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Underwriting Assistant role.
10. Ideally educated to A Level standard (or higher).
11. High level of numeracy and literacy skills.
12. Methodical, accurate and strong attention to detail
13. Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
14. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
15. Confident using Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
16. Able to work to tight deadlines.
17. Proactive approach.
