Position Summary
The Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for delivering independent inspection and quality control services for a prestigious UK Defence project located near Reading. Operating within a highly secure environment, the inspector will review fabrication and manufacturing documentation, ensure compliance with relevant standards, and support the quality requirements of nuclear-related equipment and pressure systems. The role requires a British-born UK passport holder due to security clearance requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with both internal and external customers.
* Delivering independent inspection and quality control services at operating sites and vendor locations for new equipment in manufacture, fabrication, and construction.
* Inspecting equipment ranging from Class 1 nuclear pressure equipment to items manufactured and installed to conventional codes, standards, and regulations.
* Reviewing fabrication/manufacturing documentation within delegated authority levels, including:
* Quality plans
* ITPs
* Fabrication/manufacturing procedures
* Welding procedures
* NDE procedures
* Compilation and review of LTQRs
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Strong working knowledge of UK inspection requirements within the nuclear industry or relevant transferable experience from other high-hazard industries.
* Experience and understanding of nuclear and conventional codes and standards related to pressure equipment and pressure systems, including:
* EN13445
* EN13480
* PD5500
* ASME VIII
* Associated material, welding, and NDE standards
* Ability to demonstrate a proactive and self-motivated approach to both technical and non-technical tasks.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Weld Inspector with the following:
* CSWIP 3.1/3.2
* PCN Level II Magnetic Particle Inspection or PCN Level II Dye Penetrant Testing
* PCN Level II Radiographic Interpretation
