Perinatal Mental Health Nurse

We are looking for a qualified Mental Health Nurse to join the Perinatal Mental Health Team, covering pan CTM.

The post holder will have responsibility for working within the multi-disciplinary Perinatal Mental Health Team as a Community Psychiatric Nurse providing targeted and specific assessments and interventions within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will have responsibility for implementing evidence based practice, monitoring and evaluating clinical interventions/practice and undertaking specialist Perinatal Mental Health Assessments referred to the service in line with the agreed protocols.

The post holder will participate in the provision of specialist service/interventions across the specialist service utilizing a recovery focused model in Primary and Secondary Care settings.

The post holder will facilitate an integrated Perinatal Assessment Clinic collaboratively with midwives and health visitors, based in antenatal clinics, working seamlessly across relevant disciplines to provide a robust early identification and preventative Perinatal intervention.

The postholder will be responsible for organizing daily workload, prioritizing workload of self and other team members to ensure coordination and service delivery.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Person Specification


Qualifications and/or Knowledge

* Formal Qualification required RMN/ Degree/ Diploma in Nursing
* Advanced level of theoretical and practical knowledge and expertise acquired through indepth theory and practice with young people and families underpinned by specialist knowledge gained from post registration experience to postgraduate diploma level.
* Knowledge of how to identify service priorities and initiate developments.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance relevant to the post Mental Health Act Mental Health(Wales) Measure 2010 Children's act Safeguarding children/ Adults NICE
* Training in Perinatal Mental health ( e.g. MIMS) or will work towards this
* Additional qualification in therapeutic intervention i.e. CBT, Motivational interviewing, BFI
* Perinatal Mental Health Training
* Certificate/ Diploma in Supervision
* Certificate/ Diploma in Group Work


Experience

* Experience of working in an Adult/ Child Mental health service
* Experience of mental health assessment and implementation of a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions.
* Experience of working within a team and interagency working within the community.
* Ability to manage a case load and to provide supervision including clinical supervision where appropriate
* Experience in a range of clinical settings
* Is able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills in work with a range of people including adults/young people; their families/carers other professionals, own team and managers
* Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to service delivery
* To work autonomously and set down priorities and practice effective time management
* Experience of working with a variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with a broad range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
* Ability to use reflective practice skills. - Willingness to share skills, experience and thus promote patient care
* Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
