Sample Reception.
Who we are
At Chemtech Environmental, we like to think of ourselves as an extension of your team — the kind that adds value without adding hassle (and yes, the sample containers are free). We keep things simple, personal and practical, offering tailored solutions and responsive support through our network of regional laboratories. With years of industry experience behind us, we help clients get the answers they need, make smart decisions and keep projects moving — all while sweating the small stuff so they don’t have to.
We're filthy and we're proud of it

Job details
Think you can keep up with a busy lab? We’re looking for someone who can juggle incoming samples, assign job numbers like a pro, and keep our records in perfect order. You’ll be the link between customers and our lab teams, helping make sure everything runs smoothly and our clients get the great service they expect.
Fancy earning a little extra? We run a 1 in 4 weekend overtime rota, there’s extra overtime up for grabs, and you can also earn a performance based bonus for smashing it in the role.
What you will do
* Be the gatekeeper of the lab – receiving deliveries, booking in samples, assigning job numbers, and making sure every sample starts its journey the right way.
* Keep things accurate and organised by checking samples and making sure the Sample Preparation Team has everything they need to get to work.
* Be the friendly link between teams and clients, helping answer queries, clarify test instructions, and keep everyone on the same page.
* Spot when samples need specialist treatment, coordinating subcontracted testing and keeping records and logs up to date.
* Look after our sample storage systems, ensuring water and liquid samples are stored correctly and tracked properly.
* Champion health & safety in the lab, making sure PPE is used properly and helping identify ways we can make things even safer.
* Get involved in the bigger picture, supporting site sampling, improving processes, keeping training records up to date, and helping the department run smoothly.
Who you are
* Know your way around the basics – you’ll need a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and be comfortable learning lab systems, processes, and procedures.
* A natural organiser – someone who can keep things structured, prioritise tasks, and manage their time when things get busy.
* A team player who can also fly solo – able to work independently using good judgement, while still being a supportive part of the wider team.
* Positive, reliable, and resourceful – you bring a strong work ethic, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed.
* A great communicator – confident speaking with colleagues and customers, with strong listening and verbal communication skills.
* Thrives in a busy environment – ideally with experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting where accuracy and organisation really matter.
* Solid foundations – GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths to support the technical and communication aspects of the role.
Benefits
* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays — and it increases the longer you stick around.
* Performance bonus- win together, celebrate together.
* Free on-site parking, because the only thing you should be hunting for at work is results, not a parking space.
* Health and wellbeing programme to help keep both mind and body in good working order.
* Life insurance (2x salary) for a little extra peace of mind.
* Referral bonus of £1,000 if you bring great people into the team.
* Sick pay and enhanced maternity & paternity pay to support you when life happens.
* Christmas shutdown, giving you proper time to switch off, relax and enjoy the festive season.
