Salary: £25,584 - £27,269 per annum
The Governing Body of Plymouth Grove Primary School is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning for SEND pupils in their Learning Retreat, a small group inclusion hub for children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 with complex special educational needs.
The postholder will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning, working closely with the HLTA and SENDCO to raise achievement and support pupils' academic and personal development.
This is initially a temporary position for one academic year, with potential for permanence for the right candidate.
The key responsibilities of the postholder are:
* To assist the HLTA and SENDco with designing individualised support plans and a bespoke curriculum.
* To support in the delivery of an adaptive curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils.
* To support pupils with complex needs to enhance and promote their independence.
* To support pupils to develop effective communication and social interaction skills.
* To ensure good working relationships with parents/carers and other professionals involved in the pupils’ care, promoting teamwork and collaboration with colleagues.
* To be proactive in classroom organisation, including developing visual supports and resources.
* To maintain accurate records as directed, following the school’s policies.
* To help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment for all learners.
Additionally, the postholder will:
* Lead and coach support staff as appropriate.

The successful candidate will:
* Have knowledge of the EYFS framework and the National Curriculum.
* Be confident, caring, and able to lead classes and support pupils independently.
* Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Inspire and motivate pupils of all abilities.
* Have experience supporting primary-aged children with complex SEND.
* Be energetic, with a good sense of humour.
* Be compassionate, patient, nurturing, and dedicated to supporting children with SEND.
* Be an effective communicator and team player with a positive, proactive attitude.
* Be flexible and adaptable to change.
* Have excellent verbal communication skills.
